The School Day

Timetables are designed by teachers to reflect the learning styles and concentration spans of pupils in each pathway. Teacher have the flexibility to identify which lessons from their overview documents are sequenced throughout the day. There is an expectation that core word phonics, literacy and numeracy will take place the morning sessions wherever possible. Love of literacy and assembly support the structure of the classes' afternoon. Below is an example of a typical week at Heron Academy. 

Heron Academy pupils' learning hours are between 9:00am - 3:30pm. This is a total 32.5 hours a week.
