Arts Week 2026

The theme for Arts Week 2026 was “Journeys,” and Heron Academy marked the occasion through a range of engaging workshops, music sessions, and a collaborative whole-school art project. The week began with an immersive travel-themed workshop delivered by Embracing Arts. During the session, pupils were taken on a sensory “journey” to India, complete with travel caps and sparkling juice to enhance the experience. Upon their “arrival,” pupils were welcomed with flowers and aromatic spices to explore through touch and smell. They were also able to experience a representation of India’s climate through the use of warm compresses, designed to simulate the feeling of heat.

Throughout the week, our regular music teacher visited each class to deliver engaging music sessions, where pupils used bells and drums to accompany his guitar playing. In addition, we welcomed a special visitor from Wales, who performed a song about the seasons, exploring the journey and changes that occur throughout the year.
