Community Chef Robin Van Creveld Delivers a Cooking Class

Community Chef Robin Van Creveld Delivers a Cooking Class

Heron Academy had the pleasure of welcoming Robin Van Creveld, professional chef and founder of Community Chef, for a hands-on cooking workshop and careers encounter with our pupils. The sessions focused on simple, healthy recipes, cooking skills and the role of a chef—and they were a fantastic opportunity for pupils to build life skills, confidence, and independence through food.
Under Robin’s guidance, the pupils prepared delicious fajitas and a classic apple crumble, working together in small groups to chop, stir, sauté, and bake. The classroom came alive with colour, wonderful aromas, and a strong sense of teamwork and achievement.
There was a discussion about healthy eating, encouraging the pupils to explore where ingredients come from and how to make balanced meals. The cooking class was inclusive and ensured every child took part.
The workshop was an amazing sensory experience, which also enabled pupils to explore the role of a chef and develop skills that promoted independence and healthy choices among our pupils. It provided a safe, creative space for them to develop practical skills and celebrate their achievements.
Thank you to Robin Van Creveld and Community Chef for providing such a meaningful experience. We hope to welcome him back again soon!
